Evaporative Cooling

We are Cooling Experts

Reliable Tech offers the broadest array of cooling systems in the Santa Fe, NM area. Evaporative cooling is a totally natural process filling your home with 100% fresh air - there couldn't be a healthier choice. Unlike refrigerated systems that can circulate stale recycled air, Evaporative Coolers filter and clean the air which is not only great for general health and well being, but it is the ideal choice for allergy and asthmatic sufferers.

By pumping fresh, cool air into your house and pushing hot, stale air out, evaporative cooling also operates as a ventilation system. Kitchen odors or stale air can be quickly and easily expelled from the home by turning the unit on or operating it in fan only mode.

At the same time, the absorption of heat by the refrigerant turns the refrigerant from a liquid into a vapor. A compressor pumps the heat laden vapor through a vapor line to an outdoor coil which discharges the heat extracted from the indoor air. As the heat is discharged, the vapor is cooled and changes back into a liquid refrigerant. The refrigerant is then pumped back through a liquid line to the indoor coil and the cycle is repeated.

The mini split contains a reversal valve which reverses the flow of refrigerant and thus allows the heat pump to serve as a heater during cold weather.

A mini split serves as a heater by absorbing heat from outdoor air and pumping it indoors. As the outdoor air passes over the outdoor coil, heat from that air is absorbed by the refrigerant contained inside the coil. The absorption of heat changes the refrigerant from a low-temperature liquid to a low temperature, low-pressure vapor. The vapor then passes through a compressor where it is compressed into a high pressure, high temperature vapor. The hot vapor then circulates into the indoor coil. As indoor air passes over the indoor coil, it absorbs heat from the coil. The warmed air is then redistributed through the duct system.

  • Delivers 100% fresh air
  • Uses up to 80% less electricity than comparable refrigerated systems
  • Windows and doors can be left open
  • Greatly reduces costs of staying cool
  • Enables lower purchase and installation costs
  • Allergy free, asthma-safe environment
  • Ensures full ventilation - drives out odors and stale air
  • Never dries out the eyes and skin, or even indoor plants

Ever wondered why you feel cooler by the ocean or a river? You feel cooler because as hot air blows across the water, it causes some of the water to evaporate and absorb the heat. The air is cooled by this evaporation process and so becomes a sea breeze.

An evaporative air conditioner works the same way. Hot air enters the cooling unit on your roof where it is filtered and cooled as it passes through specially designed moistened pads. A fan then blows this beautifully cooled air throughout your home.
